What you may have not noticed though is the new Dashboard under the Reports menu in your product. In this issue, we review the Dashboard's features and tell you how it enhances reporting.

In other recent product updates, we have added support for WatchGuard PostgreSQL and Websense logfiles. Check out the details below, and while you're there, check out the latest enhancements to all our products.

Finally, if you are still evaluating a Wavecrest product, take a look at the summer sales special being offered to new customers right now.

As always, contact us if you have any questions about your product. We hope you are having a wonderful 2010!

Best Regards,

The Wavecrest Team

Getting to Know the Dashboard

The Dashboard enhances our products by presenting more views of Web use in your organization via multi-perspective high-level line graphs and bar charts. A number of these ’quick-look’ displays depict Web-use activity trends from a variety of perspectives and compare activity between users, groups, content categories and sites. These easy-to-interpret charts provide an efficient way to quickly determine the amount of Web activity taking place and identify problems that may exist.

The Dashboard has three main sections:

  1. Home. The home screen provides you with a quick overview of your entire organization’s Web activity. It lets you quickly spot spikes in visits or bandwidth and identify top users and most visited categories over the last 7 days.
  2. Top Charts. These charts provide data on the top users, groups, categories, classifications and sites by visits, hits or bytes for any time period you specify. With these charts, you can quickly identify which user has the most Web activity, which site is consuming the most bandwidth and more.
  3. Trend Charts. Trends are one of the most useful types of reports available. They enable you to spot spikes in activity for users, groups, categories and classifications and to see if performance is improving or deteriorating over time. The user trend chart also provides a comparison option to the user's group and/or enterprise average so that you can see if his/her activity is above that average.
As you can see Dashboard reports provide a number of benefits and new ways to view Web use data in your organization. You can find the Dashboard by going to Reports - Dashboard in your CyBlock or Cyfin product.

New Releases - CyBlock 6.2.2 and Cyfin 8.2.2

Other recent enhancements made to CyBlock Proxy, Cyfin Reporter, Cyfin Proxy and CyBlock ISA include:

  • URL Hyperlinks in Detail Audit Reports. URLs listed in Detail Audit reports are now hyperlinked if the following conditions are met: 1) the Data Manager is enabled, 2) Interactive is selected for the Report Type, and 3) the total number of URLs for a single report is less than 50,000 URLs. The reports with this functionality are User Audit Detail, Category Audit Detail and Site Audit Detail.
  • More Drill-Down Capability. On reports that contain Hourly Visits and Hourly Bandwidth tables (such as Site Analysis), you can now drill-down to the single hour of activity of your choosing.

Tech Tip: Data Manager Import Error Notification

When raw logfile data is being imported into the Data Manager, occasionally an error can occur with the import. If an error occurs and you are not aware of it, this data will not appear in reports and data can be skewed. To avoid this, we recommend that you set the product to notify you if an error ever does occur with the import.

To set the email notification, go to Logfiles - Data Manager and click on the Settings link. Select the Enable radio button to Notify Admin of Errors and click Submit to save your changes. An email will now be sent to the Administrator email address that you set at the Setup - Email screen.

Improve Categorization with Otherwise

If you haven't taken advantage of our OtherWise program, now's a great time to start! What is OtherWise? It's an easy way for Cyfin and CyBlock customers to reduce the percentage of non-categorized (also known as "Other") Web sites in their reports.

To participate in OtherWise, simply run a Top Non-Categorized Sites report and email it to sites@wavecrest.net. Our list technicians will categorize the top sites on your report and add them to your list. There is no cost, and your report data is kept completely confidential.
