Logfile Setup
Logfile Type: Symantec Enterprise Firewall
FTP Arrangements: If your logfiles are currently being FTP'd, please determine the destination server/directory. If you plan to install Cyfin on the server where Symantec Enterprise Firewall logfiles reside, no further action is needed. If not, configure your logs to be scheduled for FTP transfer to the server Cyfin is installed on. Note: The Cyfin default directory for Symantec Enterprise logfiles is C:/logs, but it can easily be changed.
Configuration Notes
NOTE: Before Cyfin can read your logs you will need to run a conversion tool called "Flatten." This tool will convert the stored binary data to ASCII text. The flatten8 utility is shipped on the included CD and lets an administrator perform simple log file management from the command line. Below, please make note of the command for converting Symantec Enterprise Firewall logfiles to ASCII text.
flatten8.exe -b {logfilename} > Newlog
